Members of the Contemporary History Research Team are involved primarily in the history of Hungary after World War II. Their research focuses in particular on two significant topics: the history of international relations and the social history of the era after 1945, especially the so-called “Kádár” period (1956–1989). Members of the team participate in several international comparative projects. The research team considers it of crucial importance to establish a forum for scholars of Hungarian and Central East European contemporary history by organizing domestic and international scientific conferences. The research team launched a series of conferences in 2012 to discuss important issues of Hungarian and international contemporary history and to designate new directions of research.
