The Institute of History, Research Centre for the Humanities at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences publishes three periodicals, Történelmi Szemle (Historical Review),  Világtörténet (World History) and The Hungarian Historical Review. These publications are influential organs of Hungarian historiography. Történelmi Szemle adheres to traditions that formed over the course of several decades, while Világtörténet has a new editorial staff as of 2012 and strives to meet the expectations of 21st century readers, cultivating a readership interested in Hungarian and world history. The Hungarian Historical Review is a peer-reviewed international journal of the social sciences and humanities with a focus on Hungarian history. The journal’s geographical scope—Hungary and East-Central Europe—makes it unique: it explores historical events in Hungary, but also raises broader questions in a transnational context.
