Yaroslav VeshinGábor Demeter, associate of our institute delivered a lecture on October 3, 2012 entitled The Balkan Wars in the Hungarian press and contemporary military literature in Sofia at an international conference between October 3 and 9 organized for the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Balkan Wars entitled 100 years since the Balkan Wars. The lecturer was invited by the Institute of History, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event was organized by Georgi Rakovski Military Academy (celebrating the 100th anniversary of its establishment), BAS Institute of History, Macedonian Institute, Institute of Balkanistics, University of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo University and historical museums of Blagoevgrad and Stara Zagora under the patronage of the Minister of Defence. Lectures were hosted throughout Bulgaria, by Sofia, Blagoevrad, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo and Kardzhali. Russian, Polish, Serbian, Macedonian, Greek, Montenegrin, Romanian and Hungarian scholars participated in the conference. The different locations provided the guests with the chance to get to know traditions connected to local events in the war. They also visited commemorative celebrations remembering the war of „liberation”.
