On 5-7 June, András Fejérdy, PI, and Przemysław Pazik, postdoctoral researcher of the ERC project Sovereignty, participated in the international conference “Souverainetés fragiles. Diplomatie et diplomates du Saint-Siège face aux recompositions territoriales et frontalières, 1939-1958”, organised in the framework of the ANR project GLOBALVAT – Rebuilding the World, Society and Human Identity 1939-1958: The Global Perspective of the Vatican Archives.

In his presentation entitled “The Conflict of State, National and Pastoral Interests in Central-Eastern Europe: Changes in the Boundaries of Hungarian Dioceses during World War II and the Cold War”, Fejérdy discussed how the Vatican responded to the challenge posed by the repeated changes in state borders, while Pazik spoke about the attempts between 1945 and 1950 to re-establish relations between communist Poland and the Holy See after the unilateral termination of the 1925 Concordat.
